Lack of and or poor trade related quality infrastructure is cited as one of the main constraints to trade in the region.

Constraints such as transportation , telecommunication, unavailable or high cost of energy, to name a few,  increase the cost of doing business.

A number initiatives are being embarked upon by ECOWAS to facilitate trade and reduce the constraints caused by poor economic infrastructure . These initiatives are directed in various sectors including  Energy, Telecommunication, and Transport Facilitation.
