The biennial Global Review, which brings together donors and recipient countries, is an event organized by the WTO and the OECD. It is held to assess and strengthen the monitoring and evaluation mechanism of the initiative. The Global Review is part of an agenda to boost donors and recipient countries’ interests for the effective implementation and advancing of the initiative’s agenda.
The inaugural Aid for Trade Review meeting was in 2007 followed by one in 2009 which focused on reviewing progress made since the first Aid for tare Global Review; 2011 (themed “Showing Results”) ;2013 (themed “Connecting to value chains”) ; 2015 (themed “Reducing Trade Costs for Inclusive, Sustainable Growth”) and 2017(themed “Promoting Trade, Inclusiveness and Connectivity for Sustainable Development”).
The 2019 Global Review Meeting, which was the seventh to be held had “Supporting Economic Diversification and Empowerment for Inclusive, Sustainable Development Through Aid for Trade” as its theme and was held in Geneva.
