UNCTAD’s eCommerce Week is the leading forum for Ministers, senior government officials, CEOs and other business representatives, international organizations, development banks, academics and civil society to discuss the development opportunities and challenges associated with the digital economy.
In light of the COVID19 pandemic situation, UNCTAD had to take the difficult decision to cancel the eCommerce Week scheduled to take place late April in Geneva.
But, considering:
– that digital technologies are growing more and more important with so many countries experiencing some forms of lockdown because of the pandemic, and
– that several activities (social and business related) are shifting online,
In collaboration with the eTrade for all partners,
We have decided to offer that opportunity also to the eCommerce Week’s multi-stakeholder community, and go digital for a week long of online events!
Highlights of the Week will include:
- 3 High Level Sessions
- 1 Donor Roundtable (by invitation only)
- a set of Webinars to explore how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting lives and economies and what policy solutions will be needed to sustain structural changes in the long-run
- A set of sessions addressing other key issues, as:
- The emergence of digital “real-time economies”
- How to protect consumers and what efforts competition authorities are undertaking to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic.
- Innovation, data ownership and intellectual property
- The role of cybersecurity and privacy in the digital and e-commerce space
