The WTO was founded in 1995 as an intergovernmental organization to regulate and promote international trade between and among nations. It provides the platform for the current 164 member governments to work out and proffer lasting solutions for trade problems confronting them.
The institution works collaboratively with other financial institutions such as the EIF and the OECD to successfully coordinate and implement the aid for trade initiative. It provides the forum where Aid for Trade related issues, programs and activities are discussed and reviewed for increased benefit to all stakeholders.
